Sprint: HTC EVO 3D and HTC EVO View 4G on June 24

Sprint has announced two new mobile devices from HTC coming on June 24. The new devices are the HTC EVO 3D mobile phone and the HTC EVO View 4G tablet. Both devices are powered by Android version 2.3 aka Gingerbread. Both HTC EVO mobile devices are capable of 4G data transfer speeds. The HTC EVO View 4G has WiMAX connectivity.

Samsung Indulge now a Cricket connected phone

The Samsung Indulge is the latest Cricket connected phone that is powered by the Android open mobile platform. It has a 3.5-inch HVGA TFT touch screen display and a QWERTY keyboard. The Samsung Indulge is loaded with Android version 2.2 aka Froyo plus all the other goodies made by Google like Google Maps, Youtube, Gmail and Google Talk to name a few. Of course you can always install additional apps on the Samsung Indulge.

HTC Evo 4G from Sprint to get Android Gingerbread

Here’s some good news for HTC EVO™ 4G from Sprint customers. Sprint has announced that this coming Monday, June 6, they will receive the Android™ 2.3, Gingerbread, update through an over-the-air maintenance release. The update will be in batches so wait for your notification from Sprint. The notification will let users know the update is available and provide the simple two-step, over-the-air download instructions.

Can’t wait to get Android 2.3, there will be an easy user initiated option to download the upgrade starting on Friday, June 3. Just read this announcement.

T-Mobile Samsung Exhibit™ 4G & Samsung Gravity™ SMART QWERTY

T-Mobile is adding the Samsung Exhibit 4G and Samsung Gravity SMART QWERTY to its list of Android powered connected phones. The Samsung Exhibit 4G will be running on Android 2.3 aka Gingerbread while the Samsung Gravity will have Android 2.2 aka Froyo. The Samsung Exhibit has a 3.5-inch touch screen display. The Samsung Gravity has a 3.2-inch  touch screen display plus a QWERTY keyboard.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 offered as a Verizon connected 4G LTE tablet

Verizon and Samsung has officially announced that a 4G LTE version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will join the ranks of Verizon’s Android enabled tablet offerings.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is Samsung’s newest Android Honeycomb enabled tablet. It uses a dual-core 1Ghz ARM cpu and is 8.6 millimeters thin. It has a 10.1 inch 1280×800 resolution HD screen, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera and a 3-megapixel rear-facing camera.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be available in either Metallica Gray or Glossy White. An array of optional accessories such as a full-sized keyboard dock and a multi-media docking station will also be available.

Google Wallet on Android phones aims for eMoney

Google announces that they are currently field testing a Google Wallet mobile app for Android. The Google Wallet application is being done in partner with Citi, MasterCard, First Data and Sprint.

eMoney is not a new concept, Nokia first started experimenting with the concept on their Symbian mobile phones. Today Google is taking a shot at the bring electronic money to the next level in partnership with big credit card organizations which may be a key ingredient. They are also using NFC (near field communication) as an underlying technology.

NFC has been slowing finding it’s way into the next generation phones like Google’s Nexus S (by Samsung). NFC is actually already a major way of payment being used in Japan. By the time the Google Wallet comes out, there will be more Android phones equipped with the NFC chip. The question remains is whether people will find it easy to use it as alternative to hard cash and physical credit cards.

Google Nexus S 4G becomes Sprint connected phone

Sprint now offers the Google Nexus S 4G to US mobile phone users who wants a Google backed Android mobile phone. The Google Nexus S 4G comes loaded with Android version 2.3 aka Gingerbread. It is equipped with a 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor and a 4-inch 480×800 super Amoled display. The Google Nexus S 4G also comes with the standard array of Google mobile phone apps like Google Maps, Gmail, Gtalk, Google Earth, YouTube.

It also comes with Google Voice integrated with the Sprint network mobile number. This allows you to centrally manage your other phone numbers right from your Sprint connected phone.

Droid Verizon connected phone is getting Froyo

It’s official. Over the coming weeks, the Android based Motorola DROID will be geting an OS update to version 2.2 aka Froyo via OTA. The update will be coming in two drizzles. The first one will upgrade the Motorola Droid Verizon connected phone’s firmware to Android version 2.2 also known as Froyo.
